„Love is a beauty that deserves an exceptional setting” – this thought guided the complete redesign of the Civil Registry Office for the Bielany District in Warsaw.

The key spaces were modernised: the entrance area, the room for congratulations and the ceremonial hall – creating a setting worthy of the most important moments in the lives of newlyweds and their families.

The palette rests on muted whites and greys that form an elegant background, broken by a deep raspberry accent. Delicate mouldings, striking mirrors and arrangements of cut and living flowers give the rooms a sense of style while keeping a timeless lightness. The space is designed to please the eye without overshadowing the ceremony – and to look its best in the photographs that remain.

The main challenge was to combine a contemporary look with ecological responsibility. In a zero-waste spirit the existing furnishings were reviewed to decide what was worth keeping and refreshing, and what genuinely needed replacing.

Equally important was bringing the whole space up to the City of Warsaw’s latest accessibility standards, so that it is now fully open to every resident.

Comfort was further improved by advanced building services – including a discreet sound system, air conditioning and ventilation.
